Trials are a given in this world. Our best thought out plans are often detoured. We have set a destination, a goal. The time frame we plan seems reasonable. And then, we encounter a barrier. An unplanned bump in the road throws us off course. We struggle to make adjustments. We reroute, and then we wait. Yes, the waiting is the hardest part. (Thank you, Tom Petty for those obvious words!) But we are reminded in Psalm 46:10 to Be still and know that I am God. If we use the diversion as a time to go to God for discernment, the waiting becomes bearable, even beneficial. We all have struggles to overcome. Sometimes we lose heart and lose hope. But there is help available 24/7. I've heard it said "If only we had an instruction book for this stuff!" Well, unless you are living under a rock, you know that God has provided one. A child put it best when asked, "What is the Bible?" His reply. "BASIC INSTRUCTION BEFORE LEAVING EARTH!" (Amazon needs to add this to its Holy Bible description!) The Bible should not produce fear or discouragement, rather it should inspire hope and perseverance. It's God breathed purpose according to 2 Timothy 3:16 is for rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. It is a navigation tool at the very least, a life changer at best. As the song goes... I'm using my Bible for a roadmap The Ten Commandments They tell me what to do The twelve disciples are my road signs And Jesus will take me safely through I'm using my Bible for a roadmap The children of Israel used it too They crossed the Red Sea of destruction For God was there to see them through There'll be no detours in heaven No rough roads along the way I'm using my Bible for a roadmap My last stop is heaven some sweet day~Don Reno No matter the travel conditions, be they rough and bumpy, or smooth and swift there's an "app" for that. Application, that is; God's intention for our lives. The Old Testament speaks of God's faithfulness to a sinful people. His desire to deliver the rebellious souls was proven in His patience and mercy. He rewards the obedient. The New Testament is our hope. We are redeemed, washed clean by the blood of the lamb. In Him we have life and power to navigate this earthly journey. Heaven awaits. Keep your eyes on Him and use His Word even more frequently than your GPS. The gospel will light your way and direct your path. Through valleys and mountains, sunshine and rain, you are safe with His direction. Forge ahead without fear. Trust in His direction and listen to his prompting. The course you take with his guidance will ultimately lead to hearing His voice proclaim, "You have reached your destination! Welcome Home!"
