Less is More part 4....That's a wrap!

Four parts seems an appropriate length for a series called “Less is More,” so here’s the wrap. By consciously simplifying and eliminating toxic and unnecessary stuff from my life, I am freer to hear and receive direction from the Holy Spirit. In my case, all the daily static was impeding my ability to “Be still and know.”(Psalm 46:10)

Father knows best. Praying, studying and serving are all good things, but unless we get quiet before the Lord regularly we cannot hear Him. Unless we get still, we cannot be led. He has a path laid out for us. I could not see mine clearly, because I was in constant motion. He got my attention and abruptly slowed me to a stop. Only then was I able to see the things that were becoming bigger than Him and bigger than His plan for my life. I was interrupted. It was timely and beneficial. Regaining full reliance on Him allowed the unnecessary to slough off; for my focus to be directed back to His sovereignty and goodness.

When our movement is a product of fruit spilling from a spirit filled heart, it is awesome. However when that same busyness begins to overshadow our relationship with Christ, it has to go. We cannot be mastered by God and by people. The transition happens gradually and is sometimes hard to detect. But, fear not, He will make it clear and redirect. It’s not always without pain. But it is worth it, because we know Romans 8:28 to be true. If you learn only one Bible verse this year, learn this one. You will come back to it over and over again like I do. His will is perfect. He makes all things good for those who love Him who are called according to his purpose. Rest in that truth today. I know I am.

Remember God first, then family, then church…If you mix up that order, make no mistake, He will shake you up and prioritize it for you! Thankful He has my best in mind. He is a good, good Father.
