2015 began like most other years, with goals and resolutions of self improvement, fitness plans, weight loss goals and financial organization. I can’t lie; those have topped most of my lists for the past 10 years, too. But undoubtedly the enthusiasm fizzled by January’s end. Anyone else experience that? I wanted to mix it up a bit, so last year, I felt led to take my writing to a different level and committed to 52 weeks of devotions here, and I did it! This is very possibly the first time EVER that I completed a yearlong goal! What began as a desire to overcome a character flaw, “lack of follow through,” ended up being a journey of learning and a great period of spiritual growth. You see, I typically write what I need to hear or what truths I need to be reminded of. The scriptures I shared here and deeper truths I discovered were driven home and absorbed deeper than ever before.
I have debated for the past few years about blogging and sharing on Facebook, because self promotion is not my gig. But after much prayer and listening to what I believe is a calling from God, I moved. I don’t desire accolades or even approval, because I already know perfect acceptance from a perfect God. I am His masterpiece, His workmanship and His daughter. I have all the approval I will ever need. I do pray that He continues to use me to bless others with compassion, empathy, understanding and encouragement that come through my life experiences and His Word. I look forward to continuing to write here, although it may be monthly or bimonthly. I will be working a little harder on my memoir ( the comedy, mystery, horror, love story that is my life!) , some topical teaching, and a brand new project that I am super excited to begin. So here’s to 2016! Aspirations, dreams, resolutions and goals…I’ve got a few on my list, but number one will be that I seek God’s guidance in all I do and that I live my life as a witness to His Redeeming love. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away;behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 May God bless you and your families in 2016!
